Forked Lake Revisited

One of our family’s favorite vacation camping destinations over the years has been going canoe camping in the Adirondacks. We like to plan, reserve one or two remote campsites, drive up, canoe out to the edges of “the wilderness” and then set up cam! This year the dream struck again when our daughter Sarah asked it we could go with her and her twin boys. Our son Joel soon volunteered to go with us, and after several weeks of advance planning, off we went to Forked Lake (between Racquet and Long Lakes)! The weather cooperated wonderfully, and our time together was delightful with daytime paddles on the lake, visiting ducks and serenading loons, and delicious camp-cooked meals. The twins were great paddlers and campers, too! Let’s hope and pray for many more encouraging times together like this one!
